The National Minimum Wage sets minimum hourly rates that employers must pay their workers. It covers almost all workers in the UK and includes three age based rates and an apprentice rate.
The National Minimum Wage traditionally increases on the 1st October, each year. We will inform you of the new rates each year, however, it is up to you as the Employer to monitor and inform us of any National Minimum Wage increases required both annually and due to change of circumstance (such as age).
From 1st October 2016 the National Minimum Wage rates will increase:
16 to 17 years old From £3.87 to £4

21 to 24 years old From £6.70 to £6.95
